The U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission has announced a lawsuit against AutoZone in Everett, MA, where an employee has been continually harassed since converting to Sikhism. The Sikh Coalition and the Boston Bar Association’s Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under Law are representing the plaintiff.
According to the Religious News Service, the employee was called a terrorist, told that he was offending customers and then terminated from employment. Customers even made jokes calling him “Bin-Laden.” He was not permitted to wear a turban or the kara, a religious bracelet, at work.
